Biolubricants and the environment: the vegetable solution: presentation of the Ibiolab program by Carine ALFOS, project coordinator IBIOLAB, project team leader Lipochemistry Technology

Lubricants in Europe in a few lines:
- European consumption of lubricants: 5 million tonnes in 2001
- More than 95% of the market = lubricants based on mineral oils
- 30% of lubricants end up in the ecosystem
- Little experience in the use of vegetable oils
- Main problem for SMEs in the bio-lubricants sector (80% of players): difficulty in marketing and integrating organic products
- Aim of the IBIOLAB project: to increase the market share of bio-lubricants, by strengthening the competitiveness of SMEs.
