The French and collaborative consumption
One in two French people adept at collaborative consumption
Whether it's reselling objects, buying direct, second-hand, carpooling, car-sharing, bartering, colocation, etc. Collaborative consumption is no longer a microphenomenon and it is now 48% of French people who practice it regularly and 32% who say they want to start it when only 20% seem refractory. In total, 8 out of 10 French people practice or intend to practice this new way of consuming.
Collaborative consumption:
a way to regain confidence
At a time when we speak of our society as "a society of mistrust", 59% of French people say they have confidence in exchanges between individuals and even 78% of those who practice collaborative consumption.
Beyond that, if confidence in the future remains at a very low level, it is notable that the French who practice collaborative consumption are more confident and optimistic:
confidence in the future +8 points, to 46%
confidence in the future of future generations +8, at 36%
confidence in the ability of French people to show solidarity +17, at 37%
confidence in the economic recovery +11 points, to 37%
As we can see, trust has not disappeared from our society, and is not confined to the private sphere, it is reinvented and distributed differently.
