Hello, excuse me for disturbing you but here we are talking about velib '? ;)

In any case it seems to be a big success with a lot of problems at the start :)

Regarding the bike paths in Paris, I would tell you Christophe that the progress made since 2001 is enormous. So obviously if you compare to THE CITY of the bike in France (Strasbourg) forcing it seems ridiculous but look at the media coverage of Vélib 'and you will see that we are at the dawn of a change of mentalities (we can dream no; ))

100% agree.

at least one positive point, the bikes seem to progress faster than the 4x4 in the city ... that's already it.

and long live the velotaf.

criticism is necessary, but the invention is vital because in any invention there is a criticism of the convention ...

I knew that Stras had a developed park of tracks but I did not think that it was THE cycling city of France ...

And yes, I suppose that must be the good German influence in the matter :) I seem to have read that journeys in Strasbourg are 30% by bicycle. Much better than Paris 3% !!!!!

But there are other cities that move a lot for cycling. Grenoble, Toulouse, Nantes, Lyon, etc ... It lacks in fact a real national impulse.
Hopefully, the Grenelle of the environment will not forget the bicycle.
I only half believe it.

What shocks me the most is that MN is still in the idea of ownership and not of sharing a need.
Do you really need YOUR car or a means of transport?
As such, the Velib 'experience seems encouraging ... and ecologically very relevant: indeed, a bike is only really ecologically correct if it is to use significant time, and vélib' is an extraordinary means of optimizing the time of using a bicycle.

I myself do a lot of biking in Paris, and it's true that the poor Vélibiens are slow and clumsy, and in my opinion they are mainly former users of the metro or pedestrians ... more than cars!
In Lyon, this has reduced car traffic by ... 3%, that's already it!

It is perhaps to pass from a society of the object to a society of the unit of need ... when when barracks with collective tools with (all tools, small machines even raclette apparatus) it would suffice to pay a cotis' and presto, less equipment to buy.

I'm just plagiarizing the main idea of the late thierry Kazazian's "light economy".

I was in Paris yesterday to look for an apartment (I found elsewhere :D ) and I was very pleasantly surprised by the fact that the Velib seemed to work well. It must be said that the weather was nice, it may not be the same this winter.
