Cleaning a black cast iron stove: product, method?

by Christophe » 31/03/11, 12:07

Everything is in the title; how to clean / shine a black cast iron stove after the heating season which has some traces (ash, dirt, burnt dust ...) just to restore its original shine?

I dare not test cleaning products (even eco, we only have that) for fear of doing more harm ... or steel wool ...

A damp cloth with water is not enough to remove certain traces.

Thank you

Very violent method, stripper in burnt oven !!

Or pass it with a blowtorch with the flame to char and burn all the deposits on it (pyrolysis) (see hack) !!

Otherwise the carbonate soap, etc ... water, patience and steel wool and elbow grease should work !!!
