I would rather say: "Ni Pub Ni Souci"
Still, the anti ads kill small sites in the long term ... know it ...

And the others ? Have you noticed any bp?

Your site is far from small : Cheesy:

There are other ways to finance a site than advertising. The eco-store is a very good example. :!:

We talk a lot here about "degrowth", but to achieve this, you need to consume less. And the ads are there to encourage consumption ...

Uh, they are still very targeted "energy savings" or BETTER consumption, right?

Anyway this is not the subject of this Topic! There is another for that ...

The subject is this : Evil: : Evil: : Evil: server ...

I close the subject for ads: I was talking about ads in general in fact!

To come back to the server: you would have to write a script that would come every X second to load a page of the site and look at the results after 24 hours.

As I told you by amil, I had a serious down yesterday (even more ping response whether for the site or the blog). Since then, no particular concern. Perhaps a certain slowness to respond sometimes.

Hey, besides, you noticed that the site would always refer to a "weird" address:
my DOS terminal wrote:C: \ Documents and Settings \ Parents> ping www.econologie.com

Sending a ping request on vse53624.nfrance.com [80.247.229.166] with 32 bytes of data:

Response from 80.247.229.166: bytes = 32 time = 62 ms TTL = 52
Response from 80.247.229.166: bytes = 32 time = 63 ms TTL = 52
Response from 80.247.229.166: bytes = 32 time = 59 ms TTL = 52
Response from 80.247.229.166: bytes = 32 time = 67 ms TTL = 52

Ping statistics for 80.247.229.166:
Packages: sent = 4, received = 4, lost = 0 (loss 0%),
Approximate duration of loops in milliseconds:
Minimum = 59ms, Maximum = 67ms, Average = 62ms

In fact it is the reverse DNS of the server ip which points to the name vse53624.nfrance.com, name that the host gave the server.

If it is really a dedicated server, there must be a way to make them change that (This is what I do at Free for example because I have a fixed IP and web / mail server).

But that’s not the concern.
Unless they do work in their DNS or even on the server?

For me, from the string of ads after the messages, it slowed down a bit.
But since Saturday or Sunday perhaps, this has gone completely, (24 s for a page change). Sunday, I had done a complete cleaning of the computer, and there was nothing extraordinary or unusual as unscrupulous hosts ...
I took the opportunity to remove the new smiley bar ... But not better.
I feel like my orange 512 has been messing around lately too, so ...
I realize, however, that on Econologie it is much, much longer, since Sunday.

Thank you for this info .... it may be useful for me to convince my host who openly cares about my face ...

Here look (especially Targol since you confirm that I have not dreamed) for example what the support told me for last night:

On October 3 you complained of a cut
around 17:08 which would have lasted more than 20 minutes.

We have therefore searched your logs, which are at your
available on your server (/XXX.log) and there, surprise, you had visits during the hours of so-called inaccessibility of your server: check for yourself by scanning your log file.

(...)

It is probably your monitoring system that presents
gaps: I suggest you try pinging google or yahoo with your internetvista.

Basically: I'm a liar, I tell salads and it's them who are right ... I think I'm dreaming! And to think that I re-signed for 1 year with them ... Already the server pb at the end of August I am not sure that they are really innocent (for lack of "monitoring of their server") but then the given their "tone" ... it goes a bit beyond the limits ...

ps: when the server is messing around, you can use this tool (the so-called shit system) to ping the server remotely: http://www.internetvista.com/check.htm and do some captures please?

Hi everybody,
Hi Christopher,

How do you know there was a cut?
Have you tried it from several different computers?
Have you tried for several different ISPs?

Is your server time set correctly?

Christophe: in a sense they are not wrong, on the server, you have a huge amount of logs which can often help to understand the problem.
And if the apache log indicates that it had access during the shutdown schedule, it is because the server was online.

So they didn't say that you were a liar, just that the server was running at that time, and that he responded to requests. The problem can come from elsewhere and it can depend on providers.
