SYLVACTIS FX 55, wood wool will kill polystyrene?

by Christophe » 14/12/09, 23:41

I've been looking for a few months to find "eco-logical" wood wool panels, this in order to complete theinsulation of some volumes under crawling.

Well today I found what I was looking for: a semi-rigid wood wool panel cheaper than Extruded Polystyrene (styrodur type ...) with equivalent insulation performances (and I do not take into account the other advantages of wood such as sound insulation).

Download the technical and commercial instructions very well done:
https://www.econologie.info/share/partag ... RjAJp0.pdf

Main features of SYLVACTIS 55 FX:

applications:

* Roofs from the inside: laying between chevrons and under chevrons in crossed layers
* Walls from the inside: on the vertical walls, between studs of wood frame houses, internal partitions
* Walls from the outside: behind ventilated cladding
* High and low floors: between joists, I beams, on attic floors that can not be converted

Specificities :

* Flexible, easy to apply in compression
* Special formats for wooden frame houses (MOB)
* Warranty 10 years

Technical specifications

* Thermal conductivity λ: 0,036 W / mK
* Thermal mass capacity: 2000 J / kg.K
* Reaction to fire: Euroclass E

Available formats:

* Thickness 40 mm in 1200 x 600 mm
* Thickness of 60 to 200 mm in 1200 x 575 mm
or 1200 x 750 mm

At the price level:

To compare with:

Extruded Polystyrene, R = 2.25, thickness = 80 mm. Lambda = 0.036

Price per m² = 12.13 € TTC
Price per m² / R = 12.13 / 2.25 = 5.39 € / m² for R = 1!

The following: the pose!

ps: Actis is also (and above all) specialized in insulators ... thin ... paaaas well ... : Lol:

Interesting! Did you compare with the "heavyweights" in the sector, Pavatex, Steico, ... etc?
Actis is cheaper?
They make panels of different densities?

Hello,

It looks very good, certainly healthier than polysterene. But has the wood been chemically treated?

Composition: 92% fireproof wood fibers, polyester binder :|
Not very serious but can do better.

Yes I made a quote on several products: Pava and Steico including.

These heavyweights are quite heavy in terms of price (especially Pava), but the most expensive products are not 100% the same either as Pavatherm which is rigid wood wool for some. See the quote here: https://www.econologie.com/forums/devis-pann ... t8353.html (must follow the links when you put some ... it helps sometimes :D)

Ben is that they are known actors of the thin insulation ... and you must know the controversy around this type of insulation ...

ps: for other questions I think there is everything in the TECHNICAL NOTE: https://www.econologie.info/share/partag ... RjAJp0.pdf
