Yeah it looks nice to work at Google ... as long as you like it ... after if you want to leave ... hum hum ... not easy in my opinion!

In terms of savings on air conditioning, have you seen the number of air conditioners?

We understand better the high bill ... yet I would have thought that the site (no pun intended) was larger than that!

I do not think it is difficult to leave google and in addition once we have google on the CV I think that a lot of doors open !!

But beware, google has a large number of air conditioners but takes goats to mow the lawn :)
everything is a story of image :)

Is this story about goats true?

For the image, well agree: this is why the town halls generally prefer to install PV and wind turbines than to put water doping ...while the (economic) profitability of doping is largely, largely, superior to any other solution!

And without a grant please: the others are simply not at all without tax assistance ...

Green info of the day at OVH:

Hello,
As already announced, OVH has been investing in wind power for about
1 year. Unlike all wind projects, this is not
of a "financial" project but of a technological project that
internally calls a PoC: Proof Of Concept. It's pretty crazy.
1 year ago OVH decided to make wind but otherwise and therefore
to help a small start-up in the North of France who wishes to do
new generation wind turbines. For the moment the market is
totally blocked by 3-4 manufacturers who have approved themselves
near banks and therefore no other wind turbine manufacturer
cannot develop due to lack of funding. And do
otherwise and against the winds and the tides we love it! :)

In short, we therefore decided to order the prototype of this
wind turbine that no one has ever built before and we have
advances the funds so that the start-up can buy the
pieces and build it. This wind turbine was installed next to
from Valenciennes. We see it from the highway next to Toyota.
It is a proto which must pass the homologation tests
which will take several months. If all goes well then
we will be able to ... disassemble it and put it in place on
... the wind farm we own in Alsace. This field
is currently empty and waiting for the wind turbines. And as we
don't want it to be just another standard field with
of old technologies, we finance it by ourselves without
banks who do not wish to hear about this project.

Here are some pictures of the installation of the proto:
http://demo.ovh.net/fr/a416593c77375938 ... b8e1bf5fe/

They are small on purpose. A lot of technos are patented
and there is still industrial secrecy.

If all goes well, in 2012 we can have our wind field
installed and generate electricity. The goal is to become
autonomous in terms of energy production around 2015. And
thus provide hosting solutions whose price does
depends more on the cost of energy. This is our internal goal.

But we already talked on a mailing list that this project which,
if he walks, has the vocation to settle on other fields
which are currently empty because not profitable enough
given a method of financing (fully speculative) and therefore
changes in state policies. Why not you
propose to invest in this kind of projects in order to do
three birds with one stone: being a good investment, production
green energy, creation of a real wind power line in
France which generate a mass of industrial and stable jobs.

It all sounds pretty crazy. It is. But we believe it.
And when we see this first wind we really want to
see the rest ... :)

Regards
Octave

Interesting and informative these infos, because one does not realize that while surfing on the net, one releases heat and CO2, !!
That it is the energy released, by surfer surfing on the servers of the net , power by laptop 40W (my case), monitor 40W, desktop computer 200W and by surfing on servers, how much ??
10W, 40W 100W, less or more than on the surfer's computer ???????

On the other hand, for servers, air conditioning is not the optimum in energy and maintenance, even if it is simpler in management.

Ideal for these servers would be to store excess heat, with that of the sun on the roofs in addition, underground in summer and recover it in winter to heat what is missing !!
So almost without CO2 or energy to pay or waste !!
It works for houses in a subdivision:
http://www.dlsc.ca/borehole.htm

But to make our brains understand that heat can be stored underground from summer to winter with a few dozen boreholes 12 to 30m deep, it will take a few generations !!

But it is too much to change minds and too far ahead of a few generations, for us to consider it as conceivable as little as it is !!!
Finally try to explain it to OVH if they are that open.

Finally to look at their wind turbines in photo, the creativity is not visible, because similar to the wind turbines in place, with fine blades with great finesse and if progress, it is on details like shape of the blades, adjustments and conversion.
