radiation of a thermal nature already (infrared). The cathode of the magnetron is heated to emit electrons.
but also electromagnetic waves of qq Ghz which choke somewhere or are lost in space.
Beware, your microwave may be heating up somewhere other than where you think...
My microwave oven has burned out, it no longer heats up but still consumes 500W: where does the energy go?

Re: My microwave oven has burned out, it no longer heats up but still consumes 500W: where does the energy go?
Well, that's the point of my original question...
This oven had been leaking for a while even from the start...I measured again recently...
This afternoon is the first time I've used it so intensely...
Good riddance to the end!

With something like that, we can make a frequency jammer, but don't play with that....

Hi everybody,
on the damn microwave there are plenty of things to recover such as magnetron magnets
with the turntable motor, a beautiful spit
and here is something very dangerous
there is also the capacitor which can consume current even if the microwave is ruined

Didn't the guy in the last video have differential?

the secondary of the transformer is galvanically isolated from the network, so there is no current to earth.

Christophe wrote:Yes the magnetron is most likely very cooked..
But 500W to dissipate is a lot...
No, that's a quarter to a half toaster. Before it heats the whole body, from the magnetron or the transformer, there's room.

There is also the capacitor and the THT diode. Very interesting for small experiments.

Re: My microwave oven has burned out, it no longer heats up but still consumes 500W: where does the energy go?
I have just replaced it with a brand new 1000W microwave oven (1400W consumption = 400W losses already by default)
So I made some measurements with my EMF-390...at the door, sensor stuck, it leaks a lot!
Around, sensor glued to the frame, it does not exceed 80 mW/m2... logic, the frame is made of metal...
OFF:

Fortunately it drops very quickly when you move away... but leaving your nose on the door of a microwave oven while it is working I don't think it's a great idea!!
I will do the same with the grilled!

You risk nothing, the exposure limit value is 61 V/m, you still have a margin with your 6 V/m https://ondes-info.ineris.fr/content/va ... expositionChristophe wrote:leave your nose on the door of a microwave oven while it works I don't think it's a great idea!!
