After the issuance of an arrest warrant for Vladimir Putin, the Investigative Committee decided to launch proceedings against several magistrates of the International Criminal Court, including its prosecutor Karim Khan.

The Investigative Committee of Russia announced on March 20 the initiation of criminal proceedings against the prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC):
— Karim Khan, and the judges:
— Tomoko Akane
— Rosario Salvatore Aitala and
—Sergio Gerardo Ugalde Godinez.

The announcement follows the issuance, on March 17, of an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin, “allegedly responsible for the war crime of illegal deportation of population (children) and illegal transfer of population ( children) from the occupied zones of Ukraine to the Russian Federation", by the magistrates of the international jurisdiction.

In its first report since the launch of the Russian military operation in Ukraine, the UN Commission of Inquiry in question states that "the situations it examined concerning the transfer and deportation of children, inside Ukraine and to the Russian Federation respectively, violate international humanitarian law and constitute a war crime”. The Commission has written this report after having so far visited 56 localities and interviewed 348 women and 247 men.
