... but no one has been reached in Europe
We can nevertheless reassure ourselves. According to Ouest France, around fifty Hyalomma marginatum ticks have been found in north-west Europe since 2012, and none of them carried the Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever virus.
"For a tick to be contaminated, it must have fed on the blood of an animal or a human who is himself sick (...) And then it would have to be transported to France by a migrating bird ... We cannot of course completely exclude this risk. But there is nothing to be alarmist about at the moment, "said Muriel Vayssier-Taussat, quoted by Le Parisien. No one in France was therefore a victim of a tick carrying Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever.
