Notre-Dame-des-Landes: Surprise, the public rapporteur advocates the cancellation of work
It is perhaps a new twist that is preparing in the file Notre-Dame-des-Landes. The public rapporteur of the Administrative Court of Appeal of Nantes, whose opinion is generally followed, will request the cancellation of prefectural orders authorizing the work of the airport of Notre-Dame-des-Landes, announced Friday the parts. The hearing, on appeal, is held Monday afternoon.
The magistrate will propose to the court, seized by opponents, to cancel four orders issued by the prefect of Loire-Atlantique in December 2013, related to hydraulic development and destruction of protected species, to allow the realization of the airport platform and its road connection.

Three mediators to unblock the Notre-Dame-des-Landes bogus file
AFP 01 / 06 / 2017
A former airline pilot, an engineer and a prefect: three mediators will tackle the issue bogged down for years at the airport of Notre-Dame-des-Landes (Loire-Atlantique), a controversial project that was opposed Nicolas Hulot, today Minister of Ecological Transition.
Designated Thursday night by Matignon, Gérard Feldzer, former airline pilot close to Nicolas Hulot, Michel Badré, an engineer member of the Economic, Social and Environmental Council, and Anne Boquet, prefect, will have the difficult task of finding a solution in space six months.
This controversial issue has poisoned the five-year term of President Francois Hollande and divided the government, including the opposition Minister of Environment Ségolène Royal and Prime Minister Manuel Valls, in favor of the project.
The mediators were received late Thursday afternoon in Matignon by Prime Minister Edouard Philippe, Nicolas Hulot and Minister of Transport Elisabeth Borne, to initiate mediation.
These three mediators will be responsible for "considering solutions to meet development requirements, in a peaceful dialogue with stakeholders and respecting public order," said Matignon in a statement.
Overhaul
They will have to examine the issues with regard to the latest economic data (traffic forecasts, costs, carbon footprint, etc.).
"We are going to put things flat," assured Nicolas Hulot a few days ago. The minister, who also has control over transport, said he was "intimately convinced that there are possible alternatives to Notre-Dame-des-Landes that can allow us, all of us, to come out on top." According to him, mediation "will demonstrate it".
The mediators' report should allow the government to take a "clear" and "assumed" decision, in the words of Edouard Philippe, who deems it "urgent to lower the tension" on this controversial project launched in the early 70s.

The NDDL project is abandoned!
For me who lives in the region, I see especially a big setback for a very powerful mafia system.

This is good news, now this one is quite in line with the Macron strategy as it was mentioned previously:

Re: "Notre-Dame-des-Landes", or the great ecological silence
is it the plane or the airport that consumes kerosene?
Is there a better way to go to America than the plane? a liner consumes more energy per passenger to cross the Atlantic, and as it is slower we must add to the price of transport the price of room service and catering
So as long as people have the financial means to travel, it will take airplanes ... and the planes are more economical when they land easily in non-overcrowded airports ... and not landlocked in cities
is it an ecological progress to be obliged to use an airport further and to finish your trip in tgv or car?
is it a progress that a plane in difficulty finishing the crossing of the atlantic only finds a landlocked airport in town, easy month that a airport in the fields
but alas the project our lady of the moors was too bad left, too much, so the decision was taken not to rot any more
It should also be noted that this was not an old project that has been brewing since 50 years ago: it is more exactly an old project that has been put to sleep for lack of sufficient profitability to move forward, and which has been awake there are 10ans to avoid to build a new airport in the Paris region
may be a project justified a long time ago when the increase of the air traffic was fast ... now the increase of the traffic is done by the increase of the dimension of the plane and not necessarily by the increase of the number of airplane
modern planes are less noisy so the problem of neighborhood with the city is less serious than at the time of concord!
and the more the plane will make progress in energy saving the more it will be silent ... so note lady of the moors could be a solution of the past and a lamentable muddle of the idea to relaunch our lady of the moor to avoid a airport of more in paris
an airport more paris would be an absurdity too, it is better to enlarge an existing airport
a large airport has the advantage of having a large number of runways, so usable by all the wind ... easy to maintain because we can close one by using the other and pooling all means
to multiply the small airport?
I see on the map of our heathland 2 almost parallel track ... when the wind is across for one it is also across the other it seems odd to design a new airport this way
we could imagine near a small airport that has only one runway, another runway for the cases where it is useful, but only a runway for emergency, not a real airport with all the bazaar that goes with ... a trail of help that occupies a very small area, the farmer can plant what he wants around

The whole problem is there: cheap flights are a result of a relatively low kerosene price, the NDDL airport project was based on the idea that air traffic should grow indefinitely, ie typically a economists design based on extrapolations of curves uncorrelated to physical flows.
However no physical indicators can validate such an idea, we are entering a phase of oil depletion and technical innovation in the next 20 will not change anything, so it is much more urgent to invest heavily in the railways. national scale than to build airports that will end up empty like at Ciudad El Real in Spain.

Re: "Notre-Dame-des-Landes", or the great ecological silence
The decision is good.
While this contributes to increasing the nuisance around the current airport, it also allows the airport and subcontractor infrastructures to remain on site.
But it avoids creating a second elsewhere
The word nuisance covers everything: expropriation, ecology, useless expenditure
But the essential condition is that everything becomes as before.
That the former owners of the land (or their heirs) find them and turn them back or do what they want ...
I would find it unacceptable that they are attributed to individuals (regardless of their good faith or ideological qualities) who have never owned them.
