Re: The Israeli-Palestinian conflict: Distant, recent history and News

Re: “Chinese” electric chainsaws and delimbers: what are they worth?
To complement my previous message, the skill in using a manual tool does not consist primarily of some kind of virtuosity, but above all of a good appreciation of the capabilities and limitations of each tool and the skill to choose the most appropriate in each situation. It is to put...

Re: “Chinese” electric chainsaws and delimbers: what are they worth?
Concerning pruning hooks, there were all sizes, with various shapes, depending on the needs. At least at the time when local tailors made these tools by hand. As a young teenager, I had rebuilt a very light billhook which I use again for symmetrical reasons...

Re: “Chinese” electric chainsaws and delimbers: what are they worth?
A good billhook, as you say, oh Christophe is in fact better suited than an ax for small branches, but contrary to what your friend says, it is made to cut and not break; and the green cuts much better than the dry...

Re: “Chinese” electric chainsaws and delimbers: what are they worth?
You're becoming very touchy, Christophe! I had misjudged the scale of your project, but often enthusiasm for technological solutions moves away from simpler methods, which are nevertheless perfectly appropriate for limited work. As for fouling due to the burning of softwoods, this does not...

Re: “Chinese” electric chainsaws and delimbers: what are they worth?
If I judge by the photos you produce, Christophe, pruning branches does not require the kind of "nail clippers" that you use: an extension pruner would do the job very well, and probably more quickly...

If you look into the matter a little, you will see that a harvester that operates entirely on hydraulics has large capacity coolers. And, again, performance varies greatly depending on the application.

Re: “Chinese” electric chainsaws and delimbers: what are they worth?
The performance of a hydraulic device depends on its application: at low speed and in linear movement, it is interesting, in rapid rotation it is very mediocre, but is justified in certain assemblies for the flexibility that it allows. In short, a matter of compromise depending on the objectives...

Re: “Chinese” electric chainsaws and delimbers: what are they worth?
A common mistake among amateurs (or even more if affinities!) is to push the file downwards. As a result, the angle of the leading edge is modified, or even left blunt, and material is removed near the rivetings, which causes the chain to break when it is often only at m.. .
