That's it ! Did it hold?

Do you have pictures?

Well no, it must be 30 years! Sorry. Otherwise yes, it held up between Nice and Reims (and back), it must be said that with a 70hp CX diesel station wagon...

Ah ok... well today we have the power but no longer the fuel so the problem is the same! : Lol:

Well I did some modeling of possible projects... What do you think?

In terms of aerodynamics and manufacturing simplicity, I'm leaning towards yellow...my first idea was white...

If not, what is the calculation rule for the free length of the drawbar? : Mrgreen: It is less than 30 cm on the yellow, it seems a bit tight...

Green is even simpler but yellow is fine. What vehicle are you going to hitch it to?

For the drawbar... You must at least be able to put the car at 30 degrees with the trailer...

Aerodynamically the green is good...but it creates lift on the trailer...not sure it's very secure! It would be necessary to make a variable curvature (larger radius at the top) as some manufacturers do and that's not easy to do in DIY mode!

And the interior storage/stowage space is pretty crappy on the green...

But suddenly, if we have 100 kg of lift we can load the trailer at PTAC + 100 kg you think? : Mrgreen:

On my old saab 9.3...

Light, resistant to everything, for the side and rear walls, there are polypropylene honeycomb panels (those used for construction panels / barriers, not those for garden furniture eh...)
(For illustrative purposes only) https://fr.pixartprinting.ch/grand-form ... lveolaire/

The advantage is that they are an excellent support to print advertising, design and logo on them (if I see correctly where you are coming from...)

For the shape at the front, I suggest copying from the existing one, because the companies that manufacture them, put their trailers through a wind tunnel for certification purposes.

For the rear, provide a drag attenuator : Arrowd:

For sheet metal materials, aluminum is good (light solid, not very oxidizable, etc.) but with a drawback, especially in 0.5 mm thickness, the slightest fart mark and it can get pretty ugly relatively quickly. Have you considered polyester resin and other composites. There are metal sheets / sheet plates of different thickness / resistance that can be formed and joined with resin. It's light, solid and also stainless and does not mark (it breaks on exaggeration : Mrgreen: ). It's work, but also a lot of possibilities. You have plenty of references for example in "and the 40 thieves".

Example of trailer design
(if you have to load heavy, provide a rear door that acts as a ramp, useful for loading an EU/nimp15 standard pallet)
120cm x 80cm

Horse trailers have just the rounded front
https://rausschwärmer.com/?lang=de&gcli ... ZIQAvD_BwE

The old caravans for example, were just rounded in front like that

Another more tinkered aerodynamic idea, wooden structure

Trajectory stabilization system for trailers
