Still air is the best insulator except vacuum !!
but motionless is difficult because it is only in cavities of less than 1cm !!

Otherwise, convection makes the air move like a light airship balloon which rises with hot air, this as well as a fan and therefore the air becomes good conductor by its movement which transports its heat !!

Result everything is good to block this movement of light and thin, various wools, aerogels (better), double glazing with 5mm of air, etc ...

Basic info to find your way !!

Well no, I think it would be too simple ...
So ?

The air sec is a good insulator, even the best ==> that's why the best insulators are light (pse, pu, ...)
BUT it must also be stationary, this is the principle of double glazing.
Or less than 2cm thick.

A standard may not be fair (see auto cons, you can reproduce what is advertised?) But it has the merit of treating all insulators in the same way. Say otherwise, if the GR32 is only 0.034, well the GR40 is only 0.042 etc ...

In any case, a careful installation will be much better than a good insulation on paper. A little hole beyond and we end up with the equivalent of a wide open window!

A little HS reminder but you have to keep in mind:
There are 3 modes of heat dispersion:
-conduction
-convection
-radiation
most of the time these modes combine.

Last thing:
we sound on this wire only insulation for the cold. It is sometimes necessary to take into account the insulation for the heat (or thermal phase shift) and the sound insulation. To see and relate to the budget and interior comfort

little note for fun.

the best price / efficiency ratio is exterior insulation in straw bales GREB method.

almost for nothing and the best in protection ..

Oops!
Sorry guys have been on the pool table in the meantime ...

Christophe, I hadn't explained it well, but of course, you had to understand putting back the same thing, after dropping the old of course ... I haven't even been able to read the beginning of your doc yet!

Bidouille (Fred), no worries to determine the nature of what is best for this type of wall, the mason is a real pro in the region, who told me, laughing, that he was sometimes asked for things unbelievable ... like by the way the facades "with stone seen" with beautiful grouting cement are apparently calamities for the humidity of this kind of wall ...

Dropping it will be a breeze, it's so old that no one would think of trying to put something on top ... however, from a dust point of view, it won't be sad : Cheesy:

I take all this mess and I come with more pointed questions after :P

Hemp block insulation

by geo_dupont » 08/04/14, 11:46

Hello everybody

I wanted information, I am tempted to make my exterior insulation with hemp blocks from Isohemp (www.isohemp.be)

I would have liked your reactions, if someone has already used this type of insulation, ...?

Thank you all,

Welcome geo_dupont

I advise you to create a new subject dedicated to this block of hemp for more visibility and therefore response.

Personally I do not know the hemp block for outside it looks interesting to me. At the price level what does it give?

On the other hand, I used some semi-rigid Canaflex hemp panels for the insulation of my lost roofs, see: https://www.econologie.com/ouate-de-cell ... -3763.html et https://www.econologie.com/forums/isoler-des ... t4708.html

If people from Charente-maritime read your exchanges, this technique does not exist only in Poland ....
In any case thank you to the Belgians, I didn't know the term "frigolite"

Very interesting as an insulator! Do you have the contact details of specialists in France?
