Hello Citro
Chai not with whom (or what) our Webmunster was necessary to have descendants ... like that. But after all, my dear Thierry, that doesn't concern us!

Woodcutter, if you could teach us about forum the advice you give on these larvae during composting demonstrations.
This is what we show people who come to composting workshops.
Hanneton larvae:
Cetonia larva next to a chafer larva.
Head and thorax of the Cetonia, with legs much smaller than those of the Chafer.
Another infallible "tip": when you put a Cetonia in your hand, it crawls on its back, while a Chafer will use its paws.
Here it was, the entomological minute ...

Okay, thank you, Entomolo.
But it looked like neither ...
It's also annoying with all these different species in all these different regions!
Good to think about it, my larvae looked more like cetoine.
Large cylindrical larva, white, but less than in this photo, rather small legs, but less ringed body.

The other day, I saw a big beetle trying to enter the composter in which, I had stirred and put grass that had fermented, with a little water (humm ...).
I put it in a shovel to take a photo, but the camera was badly adjusted in macro, fiasco.
He was uniform brown, without white spots.
I put the shovel in the sun to take the photo, and oh surprise the brown color turned into golden.
Maybe bronze instead. Lying on his back, he found it difficult to turn around. Finally, he released his arsenal, and flew away. It must be a kind of golden cetony but without the white spots on the back.
Seeking to enter the composter
Protecting itself under its shell, with a golden reflection in the sun
Flipped over on his back
Golden in the sun
