Whether the state is "bankrupt" is debatable.

That the French are it, I believe that that is not discussed any more ... : Idea: to my great regret !

And go another April fish : Lol:

France: Fillon announces "savings everywhere" against deficits

French Prime Minister François Fillon said on Tuesday that the government would make "savings everywhere" and that "everyone must make efforts" to limit public spending, while Paris is struggling to meet its European commitments.

The head of government recalled on France Inter radio that President Nicolas Sarkozy had pledged during the presidential campaign to "freeze public spending for five years".

"This public spending freeze is what we are implementing," he explained.

Asked about the budgetary savings that the government intends to achieve, François Fillon replied: "we are going to do it everywhere". “Everyone must make an effort,” he warned.

The French government plans in particular 35.000 redundancies in civil service posts in the future 2009 budget, or the non-replacement of one out of two civil servants retiring.

Mr. Fillon once again assured that "things are better", citing the fall in unemployment or household consumption which "continues to increase". "We have assets to face" the international crisis, he reiterated.

The head of government is accused by the socialist opposition of hiding the "truth" from the French and its European partners and of preparing a "austerity plan", which he denies.

France has just revised upwards its forecast of public deficit for 2008, at 2,5% of GDP. It remains close to the 3% threshold authorized by the stability pact binding the members of the euro zone whereas it must assume from July 1 the presidency of the EU.

France has warned that it will not be able to bring its finances back to balance in 2010, as demanded by Europeans, and is targeting 2012, but even this objective seems more and more difficult to achieve due to the economic situation

We agree ... the majority of French people are getting poorer ... but there are the others ... that I would not mention so as not to revive sterile controversies ... just one example:

The head of government recalled on France Inter radio that President Nicolas Sarkozy had pledged during the presidential campaign to "freeze public spending for five years".

... after having self increased by 300%?

ps: Martian, can you use the "quotes" please? Thank you.

But if look at the news of 31/03/2008 http://jt.france2.fr/13h/#

we are talking about a guy who invests € 10 + state aid in photovoltaics which will bring him € 000 / year

Not everything is so black : Cheesy:

Hi Christophe and Captain Maloch!

Voui ... Sarko has increased and has put itself at the level of remuneration of European leaders, or the villain ... It was better in the time of Chirac who put himself in his pocket 10 times more than Sarko by typing in slush funds.

You know, if Sarko really wanted to make money, he wouldn't have made president ... He would be a business lawyer at Baker and Mc Kenzie, and would make himself 100 euros / month ... By working less than President...

It's not that I'm playing the Devil's advocate, but I like to give a few little benchmarks ...

In principle, of course, he should be the first to set an example ... but I am not sure that his pay, even increased, is illegitimate ... : Idea:

As for the guy who puts 10 Euros on the PV panels and the State which subsidizes it, I prefer that they put them there than on a 000X4 V4 and it will be at least that which will not be wasted by the State ... There is no shame in investing in our countries which really needs it.

Without wanting to hurt you, I note in your 2 interventions some slight traces of the sickly and typical relationship of little French people compared to the money of others, (but not theirs of course ...): money is not interesting that if it is usefully circulated within the framework of relevant industrial investments, this is sorely lacking in France and that is why we are in the dark.

And it is not a shame to make a good living when you are in a position of high responsibility. What is shameful is to keep the money for yourself or spend it on bullshit (private jet or yacht, Rollex, perfumes ... for example ... Sarko uses his friends, clever the guy! : Mrgreen: ).

So what is he doing then?
It affects the dividends of the law firm (in the building that killed a person with a booby-trapped package), without having to set foot there ... Isn't life beautiful?
As minister, he imported all the American security outfits, and I doubt to see what is happening everywhere that this is not done without arrangement or commission ...
As president, the road widens in avenue, and allows other perspectives (Areva, Airbus, TGV, Markets).
He is eyeing the next semester, where he will be at the head of Europe, and there, watch your eyes! ! ! ! !
All his travel expenses, he profited profusely, he benefited the family, the in-laws, and all those from whom he could get something soon ...
But his salary, he does not touch it, obviously.
On GMOs, when he decided to ban the Monsanto Maîs 810 for this year, at the same time his majority was passing a law, to transform the uprooting of GMOs into an offense ...
Today begins a debate on GMOs in the assembly, and we learn that the Monsanto lobby, has already been put in the pocket, many politicians who stand out with the same reassuring speech.
It's vomiting your France. *

Hi Gegyx!

Well say, here is a beautiful "epidermal" reaction. What is happening to you? Is it because I said 3 words in contradiction to Sarko's well-meaning lynching?

gegyx wrote:So what is he doing then?

Obviously if he is a shareholder, he has the right to his dividends without exercising any activity there, like any citizen shareholder of a company ... even you must have a share held directly or indirectly somewhere in a contract equivalent life insurance ...

As minister, he imported all the American security outfits, and I doubt to see what is happening everywhere that this is not done without arrangement or commission ...

On security policy, we can discuss, but you are not far from defamation since you have no evidence ... You must think of the Taser and non-lethal weapon, as well as electronic surveillance. Again, nothing is white or black ...

As president, the road widens in avenue, and allows other perspectives (Areva, Airbus, TGV, Markets).
He is eyeing the next semester, where he will be at the head of Europe, and there, watch your eyes! ! ! ! !

Well, I am very happy that our multinationals are breaking out with contracts signed by Sarko (even if we know he is only the "finisher"). Do you prefer everyone to be unemployed?

I am also delighted that we take the presidency of Europe for a few months, even with Sarko who did not fail to relaunch Europe after the mismanagement of "No" on the European constitution ... each his point of view.

All his travel expenses, he profited profusely, he benefited the family, the in-laws, and all those from whom he could get something soon ...
But his salary, he does not touch it, obviously.

On trips, we do not make president with the eye ... There is with each displacement a delegation of 50 people and that costs candy. But dear Gegyx, you can't do less.

On Monsanto and its links with Sarko, I am not documented. I can tell you that I despise Monsanto as much as GMO mowers. There must be a middle way to find in this area ...

I know you might take it wrong, but your message is exactly the kind of aftershock I can't stand, (not for me which counts so little, but in general so that France is better): it is an "emetic" attack with fallacious arguments mixed with a few half-truths and an ideological bias totally devoid of common sense ...

The France you describe is not "my" France. This is ta caricature vision that you stick on my words to publish me a vomito of rage.

But if you have too much bitterness, I can provide you with a little baking soda.

Friendly anyway! :P
