Japan to relaunch nuclear reactors deemed safe
lenergeek.com December 27, 2012
Appointed following the victory of the Japanese Liberal Democratic Party in the legislative elections of December, the new minister of industry Toshimitsu Motegi announced that the Japanese government would revive the nuclear reactors considered safe.
"The reactors will not restart until safety is assured by the independent regulatory authority, based on scientific knowledge," said Toshimitsu Motegi.
The Minister of Industry also assured that renewable energies would be developed to the maximum of the possibilities, and that Japan would reduce as much as possible its use of fossil fuels, polluting and expensive.
Remember that all 50 reactors in the country had been shut down as a precaution following the Fukushima disaster. Only two of them have since been revived.
The previous government (center-left) planned to exit nuclear power over 30 years. But Yoshihiko Noda's party was largely defeated by the Liberal Democratic Party in the last legislative elections.
In addition, the Japanese nuclear regulatory authority announced on Wednesday December 26 that the reactor at the Higashidori plant could not be restarted until it has been made more secure. Indeed, according to experts from the authority, this reactor is located near an active fault and it could suffer an earthquake.

In France, we would do well to look for active cracks under our nuclear power plants, such as the Rhine and Rhône collapse ditch, hidden under the sediments, before the next Fukushima in France, inevitable, sooner or later !!

Each time, the "human cost" of 1 million deaths must be added, victims of contamination by radiation at low doses (insidious and slow to take effect, cancers, leukemias, etc.)
Difficult to estimate, but probably 100 billion more, if indeed we can quantify the "cost of death" (ask yourself once the question of how much your skin is worth) here a pecadilla to 100 euros, seen that life has no price (the price of a life insurance policy ...?).
Then the lost rental of contaminated land and buildings over centuries ... And the family heritage lost to all these people ...
The total bill must surely jump beyond 1 billion ...

This scenario does not speak seriously ... of neighboring countries which will also be affected very closely (for an accident in the Rhône valley for example ....). It is an act of war to destroy the neighboring country (through incompetence, corruption, laxity, blindness, etc.). This country (ies) will be able to demand the immediate and total shutdown of the French nuclear fleet in the first instance and astronomical damages ...
For Chernobyl the main "consequences" fell on the countries of the Soviet empire, so no opportunity to bring it back, to rebel ....
For Japan, it was an island a little far from the mainland, there was "a little" dilution before reaching the neighbors .... but in the middle of Europe hello the damage ......

We didn't talk too much about ASTRID (Advanced Sodium Technological Reactor for Industrial Demonstration) on the forum.
However it is a real scandal in construction, because it is neither more nor less than Superphénix2 ...

Note the female name, history of passing the pill
(Radioactive) ...
Deciding under sarko, Bouygue construction (!) Will do the civil engineering ... and validate everything by F. Holland ... no comment!
Such a denial of democracy is quite impressive, and clearly shows that the government has no idea of going out of nuclear power.
You'll have to invest in cement lances, because a sodium fire, which is more radioactive, it does not go off like that!

The ASTRID project aims to revive the breeder sector by building a medium-sized prototype (600 MW, against 20 MW for Rapsodie, 250 MW for Phoenix or 1 MW for Superphenix). This should make it possible to assess the capacity of fast neutron reactors to incinerate plutonium isotopes.
