Good morning all!! I have in my living room a big lamp (ceiling light) with a built-in dimmer. This lamp is a replica of a kerosene lamp and as on the real kerosene lamps of yesteryear, the wheel that was used to reduce the lighting is used in this case for the same thing.

I would simply like to remove the dimmer function, and install a low consumption bulb. In short, to make an ordinary lamp and no longer at all with "variable" lighting. Anyone have any advice for me?
Thank you in advance.

I suppose it's to put energy saving bulbs that you want to remove the dimmer? Oops not seen the complement and the image so yes that's it!
So you have I think several choices:
a) you always put it all the way down, you no longer touch the dial and you control the lamp with a classic switch on the wall (which must exist, right?)
b) you buy a variable CFL bulb compatible with voltage dimmers (it's new and little known yet)
Here are 2 models in E27:
economic and LED bulbs
I think the 18W should be well suited to your use (90W equivalent). It's not cheap but it works well!
c) you bypass the dimmer by removing the lamp (more complicated than a) for the same result) and replace with an ON / OFF switch

Actually the dimmer no longer works or very poorly, definitely a bad contact and I just want to put it completely out of order. I had thought of unplugging it completely and turning my lamp into a regular lamp by simply using the wall switch.
How to unplug this dimmer and use my lamp exclusively with the wall switch?

So you have your answer! It's settled, isn't it?
Here are some high-power energy saving bulbs that might be suitable (without dimmer) if you don't have one yet: economic and LED bulbs

Hello
special dimmer lamps, great but the price is also great!
I made a test on an economical lamp, by reducing the capacitance of the capacitor after the rectifier: we manage to produce a variation in light intensity, but not as efficient as in conventional lamps (incandescent).
in this case, no extra charge for the lamps, or very little.

This is the price of innovation ...
I doubt the effectiveness of your method on the safety and life of the bulb.
For information, we can also vary low voltage LEDs (12V) almost continuously with a 12V dimmer. This despite what the manufacturers say ... There must be some reason why he doesn't recommend it ... don't you think?
