Re: Solar bus, autonomous, from a Tesla engine.
I was afraid.
I believed in a return of superunitary, quantum energy or even vacuum energy or the Dumas effect...
But no Tesla is also concrete, even if the boss is a bit chtarbé

Yes,
It's just that most of the time, you can charge with solar, with 16 kWp that he installed on his bus, and again, there he was in Morocco, but he plans to go to Norway, and there, can autonomy, but he is not in a hurry, and if he has to stay 3 days in the same place, he does not care, but in Norway, it can be 15 days in the same place .... But he can charge in tri phased too....

Re: Solar bus, autonomous, from a Tesla engine.
Checked on https://re.jrc.ec.europa.eu/pvg_tools/fr/tools.html, in June the difference is ~25% keeping the inclination flat (0°).phil59 wrote:Yes,

So if to recharge the batteries, it takes three days in Morocco, it will take no more than 4 in Norway (except overcast weather).
And if he can tilt, he'll win a bit.

Re: Solar bus, autonomous, from a Tesla engine.
Not quite !
Norway
Morocco
Depending on the season, it has nothing to do!
And even, Morocco, June 2635 kWh, at 0°, i.e. 88 kWh, day, and Norway, 1662, i.e. 55,4 kWh day, i.e. a rounded coeff of 1.59, so 3 days, in Morocco, would give 4.77, i.e. almost 5, you have to be precise, quibble.
I'm not talking about March, you can clearly see that in Morocco, it's completely different from Norway, not to mention December!
Well, the inclination, it has cylinders planned, but it can't always take out "the wings", because of the wind.

Re: Solar bus, autonomous, from a Tesla engine.
You took the extremes, I the averages. It is true that these countries are very spread out in latitude and it can be 15 days in overcast weather, even more and it is better not to count on the sun in winter.phil59 wrote:And even, Morocco, June 2635 kWh, at 0°, i.e. 88 kWh, day, and Norway, 1662, i.e. 55,4 kWh day, i.e. a rounded coeff of 1.59, so 3 days, in Morocco, would give 4.77, i.e. almost 5, you have to be precise, quibble.

Re: Solar bus, autonomous, from a Tesla engine.
The goal was not to contradict you, I like to check for myself and this tool is very practical, isn't it?
You got to 5 days instead of 4 taking the extremes, but the biggest problem are the hours without sun.
From this point of view Norway is at a disadvantage, there is no doubt.
And you are well placed to know that winter should not rely too much on the sun, especially December January.

Re: Solar bus, autonomous, from a Tesla engine.
very good, this solar bus with 3 roofs, two of which are deployable.
I have roughly the same project on a caravan, but I haven't made any progress on it.
In sunny countries like Morocco, with a little patience, you can drive without diesel.
The advantage of the panels is also to create a shade for the vehicle and reduce its overheating while providing a livable space around the coach.

Re: Solar bus, autonomous, from a Tesla engine.
I come back to the tools available.
PVGIS gives the photovoltaic potential at a given location, regardless of cloud cover.
The weather stats give the average annual sunshine which changes with the RC.
We see that from Perpignan to Amiens, we have a ratio of 2, about the same as between Fez and Oslo (worse in Bergen).
It is especially in winter that the periods without sun last the longest.

completely agree and even in summer, in an oceanic climate you can have long periods under the clouds, but in an anticyclonic period there is still a way to move up there, with your solar bus, formerly school (in sky blue zone , 25 to 30% more charging time compared to Morocco).phil59 wrote: in Norway, it can be 15 days in the same place...
