Stop solar panel heating

by alex71 » 07/07/07, 00:11

Hello, I discovered your site a few days ago and as a good handyman I decided to make a small heater for my workshop.
So I started making a panel as explained here: https://www.econologie.com/construire-so ... -3215.html
I wanted to connect it to a metal radiator and circulate the water through a pump.
The question I ask myself is how to stop the heating in summer, period when the sun is the strongest and or we do not need heating.
Thank you in advance for your ideas.

Hello Alex71

We can consider the following solutions

- stop the pump and purge the system

- stop the pump and provide an expansion tank

- hide the panel with a second light-colored panel or a tarpaulin (and stop the pump : Cheesy: )

Otherwise, you can ask PITMIX, which also makes a solar panel, how it intends to control it: https://www.econologie.com/forums/releve-de- ... t3771.html

Hello everybody

Bravo for this post, it reinforces my conviction, any handyman can be a solar heat recovery. It remains to be seen the yield depending on the manufacturing method. It is obvious that to heat a little water for a summer shower will be easier than to heat a workshop in winter, but it is very interesting.
As soon as I manage to find a little time, I start, and would keep you posted if that tells you.

An alternative: summer heat could be used for a swimming pool

It takes monstrous energy to heat a swimming pool ... I don't know if an additional solar heating could be enough ...

Although I am not a specialist in the matter, it is in my opinion possible as long as the system is well developed and that it is given the time necessary to collect and restore energy.

Of course it is but you need several tens of m² of panels ...
otherwise you have to buy a neoprene :D

I want to believe it, I do not realize the proportions.
On the other hand, excuses me, I didn't get the neoprene, I know it's good glue ...
