Solar waterfall fountain for self-built terrace

by kryxx » 29/01/08, 13:54

Hello,
I'm going to build a small terrace for this summer and I want to put a closed circuit waterfall process on it. As much as possible, I would like to use solar power (even if it is supposed to work only when we have people).
I was wondering if this type of material could go on and if it was easy to replace the network with solar

PS: watch your jargon, I am neither electrician nor electronician : Cheesy:

I had precisely the same idea a few months ago but with winter I had other priorities.

So yes using the 5W panel for example

https://www.econologie.com/shop/panneau- ... p-109.html

it can work live, just find a 12V DC pump.

The thing I want to test is simple: as soon as there is enough current the pump turns red, possibility of putting a switch and no need for battery.

I think that a recovery wiper pump (car breaker) could do the trick but don't expect the Niagara Falls eh !!

Assuming an efficiency of the wiper pump of 50% we would have 2,5W of hydraulic power either for a mano height of 2m (reasonable) a flow of 0.13 L / s or 7.64 L / min.

Not much but enough to create a ZEN environment ecologically ...

If others have pump ideas? Personally as there is more breakage in Beglique I have trouble finding a pump ...

I was thinking of using a real fountain pump, but plugging it into the solar. so you say it's easy? cool ! it's a speech that I like : Cheesy:

I don't know what you mean by true pump but if it is a pond pump no it will not work because they work (for the vast majority) in alternative ...

Well, I just learned that there are small water pumps for boats and caravans.

Should find a small one that happens to turn with the panel of 5W ... otherwise must go through a battery ... but it complicates the assembly ...

12V pump from € 12:
http://www.conrad.fr/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10001&storeId=10001&productId=217148&langId=-2&ItemHighLightId=217152&from_fh=1&category=recherche

without 12v battery: + there is sun and + the fountain is powerful, turns off by itself at night.

yes I was on the page as well, but I don't know if the minimum intensity provided by a panel is sufficient to start the pump ...

Intensity: 0,9 - 1,7 A

ps: ah it may be possible because "the water cooling of the engine allows the continuous operation of the pump for 6 - 9 V" I do not understand what that means but it means that it can work at reduced power ...
