SSD quality and lifespan (SLC, MLC, TLC, QLC)
For SSDs, manufacturers offer specific optimization tools such as "Samsung Magician" or "Dashboard" for Sandisk or "Crucial Storage Executive". For Lexars, there is "Lexar Optimize Tool". These tools do not defragment but erase obsolete data. Hence the interest of disabling the "defragment" function on Windows.
In addition, we do not know if this bug has been corrected, hence the interest of going through the "proprietary" optimizer:

Ps: I don't understand why you bought this brand and an SSD with QLC technology, the slower and the one that ages the fastest instead of taking one with SLC ...

Yes, TLC (at the time for me) the price of your SSD?

Open your eyes and take a good look at the last image, or did you see the word "defragment"?GuyGadeboisLeRetour wrote:SSDs should not be defragmented

I was completely unaware of these technological subtleties of flash memories! Thanks Guy!
So we know how what type of flash the SSD we want to buy uses? That is to say before the purchase? I imagine that there are benchmarks that give it after the purchase ...
My question is not trivial, this subject made me want to equip myself with an SSD, suddenly I took a Crucial MX500 but the type of flash was not on the product sheet where I bought ( A..zon).
It appears on the other hand on the official site: https://www.crucial.com/products/ssd/crucial-mx500-ssd
Our Dynamic Write Acceleration technology uses an adaptable pool of high-speed, single-level cell flash memory to generate blistering speeds.
I hesitated with the BX500 sold 10% cheaper ... and there the type of flash is not even specified on the official site: https://www.crucial.com/products/ssd/bx500-ssd
So I imagine it is worse than the MX?

Not only is the SLC not the most expensive of your link: it is the MLC which is in the table ... but in addition durability must be taken into account in the investment! Buying low-end several times costs more than once "pro" ... especially since the price difference is minimal!
When I read in the guy table that a QLC only allows 150 rewrite VS 50 for an SLC frankly it's scary! Life factor divided by more than 000 !!! While prices vary, at best 300% for equal capacity!
I will never put an OS on a QLC!
As I just said I think that the type of flash should be put more forward (it is still necessary to know that there are different ... something that I did not know before yesterday )

Re: Pc Lenovo ideapad 110 does not start anymore: blinitialize Library failed
From what I understood, it is the TBW which gives the lifetime, or the maximum number of writes supported
I am already at 335 GB in 35 hours and 4 days, but hey! everything had to be installed first, 30 GB currently on the disk ...
75 GB the last 2 days, I can already estimate at 18 years old at this rate of 37 GB / d
Comparatively the Lexar NS100 / 512GB TBW is 256TB, so not bad (140 GB / day over 5 years) https://www.lexar.com/fr/portfolio_page/ssd-ns100/Crucial's 3D-NAND technology is designed to support 100TB (TBW) which equates to approximately 54GB per day for 5 years for the 250GB model.500GB model can support up to 180TB (TBW) and 360 TB (TBW) for the 1 TB model. This equates to 98 GB of daily read / write for the 500 GB model and 197 GB for the 1 TB model for 5 years. The 2TB model, on the other hand, can support up to 700TB (TBW) which equates to around 383GB per day for 5 years. https://www.relaxedtech.com/reviews/crucial/mx500
