Well yes but no ... you have to inject the "engine work" from the top of the cylinder ... that's how it was designed and works.
Mentalize the 2 tps cycle in your head ... you will see that by injecting compressed air (continuously) via the AC inlet cannot work.
There are 2 possible cases:
a) open intake lights = open exhaust light = air leakage towards the exhaust = 0 engine work
b) closed intake light = pushed from the bottom of the piston = 1/2 cycle and nothing more after, the casing is under pressure, the piston at TDC and it stops there ...
Am I wrong?

Well thank you for the video but I know how a 2 and 4 stroke works ...
To convert a 2-stroke into an air motor there is only one solution: sequential injection through the spark plug hole imitating the explosion in combustion operation ...
Performance probably even worse than a converted 4-stroke engine because the trigger will be shorter ... but no loss of engine work to "drain" the relaxed air ...
This is therefore discussed ... but the management of the injection will be delicate ...

well, I cogitated my bullshit.
let's pass in 4 stages, bring the air by the admission and ensure the exhaust by the normal pipe but by doubling the cycle of opening of the valve would lead I think to the functioning of the engine.

the easiest way to double the opening cycle of the exhaust valve would be to halve the size of the star wheel.

I vote for the writing of concrete post and practicality.
