Sorry to contradict you Christine, but what you write is true for miscanthus in general, but not for M. gigantéus, since it is a hybrid:
Wikipedia: Miscanthus giganteus the giant miscanthus a sterile interspecific hybrid between Miscanthus sinensis (Chinese reed) and Miscanthus sacchariflorus.
Not too much fear regarding root expansion: it doesn't behave like bamboo.
Miscanthus in Alsace, pellets and solar!
Christophe, last night on France 3, April 1, in the magazine "Repères" just after the edition of the regions, at 19 pm there was a report on the cultivation of miscanthus in Indre et Loire, I believe, for raw use or in pellets for heating.
Unfortunately, no way to review this magazine on the France 3 site; I sent an email to find out more, I will keep you posted.
In the meantime, I found this:

Here I had the response from France3 and I was able to find the video.
You have to look at 12, this is the start of Repères magazine.
So interesting report on Miscanthus and Swiss grass (?) But also on the tidal turbine, the "Searev", green lamps and a fuel saver the RHP.

I will try to save her but I promise nothing.

Indeed, a friend, not an organic farmer, grinds the straw with his harvester and leaves it there (buried by plowing) ... given the number of crows that eat worms on his fields, it's rather positive ...
