With €85M in public aid, it is likely that this project will come to fruition.

Re: Roasted pellets, the new threat?
There is an EDF document of around a hundred pages which takes stock of Ecocombust phase 1. Ecocombust consists of running the Cordemais coal-fired power plant with pellets.
This document is not easy to find and you have to look carefully to obtain the data to calculate the quantity of pellets necessary for the production of 1 kWh.
1 kg of pellets produced 0,3 kWh...!
In short, taking into account the losses in the electricity network, you need a third to a half ton of pellets to recharge your EV!

Yes, meh, it's not much more than coal...
These 3 units (Cordemais 4 and 5 as well as Emile Huchet 6 in Lorraine) of 600MW each, consume a little more than 200t/h of coal at full load.
But the problem is not there. The problem is that depriving them of fuel "getting out of coal" meant condemning them to close, i.e. 1800MW less, sometimes very useful at peak consumption in winter.
While these are tools in the prime of their life, put into service in the early 80s.
A perhaps more elegant solution, in any case less expensive, would have been to drastically limit their annual operating time by prefectural decree to, for example, 1000 hours/year. But that didn't make it possible to say "we're getting out of coal"...

Plasmanu, you're annoying posting your shit everywhere. I have already advised you to open a thread "Plassmanu, my life, my work, my states of mind", you will put your service records, letters from your ex, photos of your children, your photos of your mess at home, and anything else that interests absolutely no one...

Re: Roasted pellets, the new threat?
Dark pellets vs coal: What is, from the manufacture of one through the extraction of the other (and everything else not mentioned, distribution, etc.), the true "carbon footprint" of one and the other? 'other ?
Ps: Regarding Plasma-nu, I can imagine that the vile, repeated and targeted interventions of Janic could have caused a sensitive being to lose control.

Re: Roasted pellets, the new threat?
Regarding pellets vs. coal, take into account (for the carbon footprint) combustion as well. Corsican egg!
