Seen on the PPDA news last night, Wednesday October 4:
Adapter kits sold in Germany for 700 €. See my post there:

Hello,

What you should know is that a gasoline engine can run very well on ethanol.
The problem stems from the fact that the manufacturers have so drawn the prices on the material that various parts exhibit strange behavior in the presence of ethanol.
The "modification" is in fact a return to more conventional parts with more rubber than plastic seals, to injectors made of noble materials and not plastic !!

If we accept a more "limited" life, nothing prevents turning to ethanol with correct settings.
The box available in Germany is neither more nor less than an automobile "calculator" rule for your tank !!

Hello,
And in Brazil the conversion kit would not be cheaper than in Germany?

Obviously, but with the port (by plane) ... is this really reasonable?

Hello,

NO NEED FOR A KIT to operate on more or less pure ethanol !!!

the only problem is the mechanical resistance of the various components of your engine with respect to the ethanol !!

Ethanol has an octane number of 110 to 130 depending on its purity, so the combustion settings need to be reviewed !!
What we sell you as a kit is a new computer specially programmed for your car.
It is on the verge of a scam because we do not tell you that your joints will rot faster and that your injectors will grow old at high speed !!!

Hello,

No christophe, I may have expressed myself poorly.
Ethanol is relatively corrosive, so the seals, bearings and injectors will suffer more than with gasoline.
But that's all !
The octane number allows greater power or lower consumption WHEN THE ENGINE IS WELL TUNED !!
Alain PROST used ethanol in formula 1 in mixture at around 30% during his glory years in order to increase the octane number of his fuels ........
All gasoline engines can run on ethanol with correct adjustment, only the life of the engine will be changed.
Hence the price of flex-fuel because we change the model of parts sensitive to ethanol for more robust parts.

We agree with the settings ... and therefore the E85 kits sold for the moment only influence this ... and not on the corrosion ... Are you sure that the gaskets and hoses will not resist?

We end up with the same problem that is difficult to solve as the HVP ...
