The drop in activity induced by the confinements has given rise to several spurious announcements about an alleged spectacular improvement in air quality.
In the Paris region, for example, some have claimed that fine particle pollution in 2020 was lower than in 2019, which in no way appears in Airparif's figures. Others claimed that the waves of pollution had caused epidemic waves, which the comparison of series (pollution, number of cases) denied.
But the prize for the crudest lie certainly goes to the BBC and Lord Attenborough in their documentary, where they put in the mouth of a "local" the declaration that thanks to the purity of the air, he had been able to see for the first time the hymalaya in the distance.
Himalayas seen in weather of pollution (1st photo attached), depolluted Himalayas (second photo).
Except that we can clearly see that the characters in the foreground, at the bottom right, are exactly the same (clothes, positions ...) and therefore that we are dealing with a lousy special effect that can escape us on the video of the courted views.
This instrumentalisation of confinements by environmental activists, and their lies taken up by the mainstream media, is worrying.
