Peach blister

by phil53 » 11/05/09, 08:54

As this is the season in which it manifests, I allow myself to offer you my little tip.
Indeed the blister manifests itself when the buds open, the humid weather favors the proliferation of the fungus and curative treatments are useless.
On my peach trees, I remove the sick leaves, sometimes even the tip of the infected twig. Care must be taken to collect the leaves on the ground and destroy all of these leaves as spores can infect the soil.
As soon as the drier and warmer weather arrives the leaves are saved.
It takes a little patience but if you think about it you don't spend more time than buying polluting product, prepare it, spray it and then clean the equipment.
As a preventive measure, you can plant garlic and / or bury a little zinc (from an old gutter) at the foot of the tree.

My parents use a "method" which seems to give them satisfaction.

They hang in the branches half-shells of eggs stacked by 5 or 6 and hang them with solid wire. It is done a lot around euz ....

At what period?
Because the fungus is present on the buds.
The treatment method is only effective if it is done on the buds with Bordeaux or Nantes porridge.
Less ecological but still quite soft if used in a reasonable way.

Uh ... Anytime I think!

But it's not a treatment, more like a "grandmother's thing". Apparently the blister does not go away but it is less aggressive.

To confirm.

We have a simple solution, we do nothing and we harvest tons of peaches every year, but it must be said that fishing is particularly pleasant here (Morvan).

The solution proposed by Phil53 is interesting.

Others propose to plant officinal sage or tansy at the foot of peach trees.
I don't know if it works, but anyway they are nice plants ...
I'm going to try with tansy, I got a foot back.
