What men eat emits 41% more greenhouse gases than what women eat, a team of British researchers has calculated. In question in particular: the quantities of meat they ingest.

The diet of men emits 41% more greenhouse gases than that of women, mainly due to their disproportionate consumption of meat. This is demonstrated by a British study published Wednesday, November 24 in the scientific journal Plos One.

To arrive at these results, scientists from the University of Leeds, in the United Kingdom, analyzed the diets of 212 adults. They had to declare all the foods they had eaten during three XNUMX-hour periods. The researchers then calculated the greenhouse gas emissions needed to produce each of the foods mentioned.

Result: non-vegetarian diets emit 59% more polluting gases than vegetarian diets. In addition, the diet of men overall emits 41% more greenhouse gases than that of women. Largely because men eat more meat and drink more beverages — excluding water — than women.

These results do not surprise Nora Bouazzouni, author of Steaksisme — Ending the myth of vegetables and meat (ed. Nouriturfu, 2021). "The individual national consumption study produced by ANSES already showed that in France, men eat twice as much red meat as women," she told Reporterre. Additionally, “Globally, the overwhelming majority of people who follow vegetarian, vegan, and vegan diets are women. »

Yes, but finally there anyway, I'm not going that far in virtual media! IRL on the other hand, accompanied by old traveling companions, I say not... and they do the same, moreover. : Mrgreen:
