return to cycloids

by turbi » 03/09/15, 19:12

To image the previous answer, here is a small animation:

Image
I changed the colors of the stator to show in red the heating section and in blue the cooling section. The neutral sections are in pale gray.

Of course these are only elements free of their helical appearance. Always to allow a better visualization ...

By reactivating the helical aspect:

Refrigeration cycles can also be envisaged. : Idea:

Yes Raymond, why not?

Here is another animation that shows the 2 pieces:
Image
Heat at the red section, and cool down at the blue section, and the rotor starts to rotate ...

Several ways can be envisaged to exploit the rotations in play ...

On this view we see one side of the system with the Lahire cycloid in action.

Whatever the place where one cuts perpendicularly to the axis, one will get this cycloid ...

Hello Yves,

Your animations are really beautiful.

This hybridization between Pumps of Moineau and Cycloids of Lahire Is pretty bluffing.

The difficult point, of course by varying the section of the "pipe", are complex shapes to machine and seal.

Hello Raymond and the others,

I resume the last animation, but again by removing the helical effect:
Image
This time I slightly stretched the red and blue sections and the center section. This is another way to increase the volumetric effect. It also makes it possible to lengthen the heating and cooling zones for greater efficiency.

I also showed a cutting in 10 washers (2 by section) to suggest an assembly of elements easier to manufacture. Can molding be interesting? ...

See you

Indeed Yves,

molding is possible for these "open" parts

Not be sure that the geometric precision is sufficient, except to consider joints which block the mechanical clearances.

New rotary concept

by Pascal HA PHAM » 09/09/15, 05:56

Hello everyone,
BRAVO Yves! It always cogites as much ... !!
Beautiful study say so ... what name could be given to this new concept?

Hello Pascal,

Nice to review your comments ...

On another platform Tom Peat sent me these links:

http://siags.siam.org/siaggd/problems/gravesen/
http://www.treefinder.de/ideas.html

In these sites it is seen that the conical helical system already exists ... Except that the idea that only 2 rotating parts define closed chambers that can follow a complete cycle with heating / expanding and cooling / retracting, is not there .

It's still very interesting. Beautiful geometry!

But would there be another extension of this geometry? I believe that yes ...

See you soon

Yves
