"Green" terrace lighting (solar)

by bennurre » 07/08/12, 15:28

hello, my project is to make an LED terrace lighting in an autonomous and free way ... I turned to wind turbines (subject here: https://www.econologie.com/forums/constructi ... 11963.html ) but given my use I think it is better that I see the side of the photovoltaic panel ... !!!

according to my calculations: consumption 1 bulb: 3w in 12v therefore 0.25a

0.25X 5 (number of bulbs) = 1.25A

ignition for 4h: 1.25 X 4 = 5A

Use of a 12V 20W monocrystalline solar panel and a 12V 7A lead battery.

battery charge to max 1.4A
solar panel efficiency: 20W = 1.6A in 12V

What do you think of the performance, battery charge etc.? thanks in advance for your com!

Hello bennurre!

And how many hours do you plan to use your lighting?

ImageHave I missed it solid !!!

So you need + or - 60 watts!

20 watts of panel can do if it is sunny with this battery but if it is cloudy the performance will not be enough!

Either you increase the capacity of the panel and or you increase the capacity of the battery.

Too deep a discharge of the battery will shorten its lifespan!

ui ui can be a bit more powerful !!!

for the battery, I thought of putting a limiter to prevent the battery from going too low ...

too bad the solar panels are so expensive !!!!

Search a little on the net and you will find very suitable prices for the panels and a battery that will be less expensive than a commercial wind turbine without battery!

The excess energy will be useful for something else eventually!

The only damage is that a wind turbine can do it yourself but not the solar panels ...
