In 1972, "The limits to growth" came out, a book in which three scientists from MIT warned the world of the probable consequences of human development based on productivism on a planet with finite resources. The book becomes a best seller and a reference for all aficionados of the theory of collapse. That said, neoclassical economists - and notably 2018 Nobel laureate William Nordhaus - have widely criticized the (World3) model used by researchers at MIT. Nordhaus has also created a "world" model called DICE which aims to integrate the issue of global warming into economic models for predicting growth.
The idea of the video is to show how two sciences - system dynamics and neoclassical economics - construct very complex models in an attempt to predict the future of humanity. To put these two approaches in parallel seemed very interesting to me because, if for the researchers at MIT, economic growth is the fundamental cause of the risk of collapse, it is on the contrary the ultimate solution to all problems - global warming or otherwise. - for economists.

for a scientist, it's a shame to start with a litany of false, unattested, or misleading figures ...

With these figures we can easily show that humanity has been living in permanent disaster for millennia!

What is it for a scientist to say that another scientist is using wrong numbers without giving the right numbers? Blah? Disinformation? Lies ? Manipulation?
(A bit of all that, my general).

for example 2/3 of the bugs haven't disappeared, if you want details.

You're right, it's more, but in Europe and this detail changes everything? : Mrgreen:
