In 1972, "The limits to growth" came out, a book in which three scientists from MIT warned the world of the probable consequences of human development based on productivism on a planet with finite resources. The book becomes a best seller and a reference for all aficionados of the theory of collapse. That said, neoclassical economists - and notably 2018 Nobel laureate William Nordhaus - have widely criticized the (World3) model used by researchers at MIT.
