Sustainable Development Week will have him next week.
The organization of the Sustainable Development Week (SDD) was decided by the Prime Minister in November 2002. Led by the Ministry of Ecology, Development and Sustainable Development (MEDAD), this operation aims to:
- inform the general public on the components of sustainable development (economic development, environmental protection, social progress) and on their necessary complementarity: there can be no economic development without social progress and environmental protection.
- motivate and support changes in behavior by explaining the good daily practices to be adopted in favor of sustainable development.

The theme of the week 2008 will be sustainable production and consumption. This theme is at the junction of the 3 components of sustainable development.
Our modes of production and consumption have a direct bearing on sustainable development: when we buy a product, we also buy the working conditions of those who produce, the conditions of manufacture, evolution and destruction of the product, and therefore their impact on the planet and on the human being.
The participants will have to organize their actions according to the theme of sustainable production and consumption, which they will be able to deal with in its different aspects (waste, energy, fair trade, transport, eco-labels, housing, tourism, leisure ...), in order to inform and to raise the awareness of the general public, and give them the means to act on a daily basis.
Special information: students from Echo-Motor² project on doping with water Gillier Pantone will participate in this week on April 4 and 5 in Douai.
