During the combustion of fuel oil (diesel) one of the combustion products is water vapor. This water vapor is also often forgotten when we talk about releases from the combustion of hydrocarbons, but the vapor has a major influence on the climate (see the equations of combustion and CO2), but this is not the subject of this news which aims to present a homemade blue flame oil burner.
The water, produced in significant quantities (1L of burnt fuel oil produces about 1kg of water), could be used to improve the combustion of fuel oil in a boiler, a bit as allowed the technique of water doping on heat engines. This is the idea that 2 members wanted to test on the forums.
The recirculation of the steam in the combustion chamber makes it possible, a quality never achieved combustion. Buderus (for example) a burner with recirculation markets in recent years, Buderus Logatop, but the results obtained by the assembly presented below seem even better and above all are obtained on a burner and a boiler (also Buderus brand) of 30 years of age.
These results are incredible compared to the simplicity of modification and the age of the boiler:
- CO divided by 9
- Carbon and soot divided by 400
- NOx divided by 20
This gives decontamination levels much higher than the most recent oil and gas boilers for a few tens of euros of modification.
