Contribution to the combustion of water emulsion in heavy fuel oil

This comparison of temperature fields and flame lengths qualitatively confirms the trends observed in experimental studies in the literature. Finally, an experimental campaign on an industrial boiler of modest power (~ 200 kW) makes it possible to measure a reproducible drop (between 30 and 35%) in particulate emissions using an emulsion of water in heavy fuel oil, compared to pure heavy fuel oil. The measurement of the particle size distribution of the particles emitted makes it possible to provide a micro explosion indicator.
