Many articles currently mention new combustion processes, most commonly as HCCI or ACI, and attribute them spectacular properties in terms of reduction of nitrogen oxides and particles without loss of yield. All manufacturers are actively seeking to develop commercial products using these processes. They could appear on the market at the 2010 horizon.

It should be noted that Honda is the only manufacturer to have finalized an 2T engine using a CAI type process (then called ARcombustion). Prototypes (EXP2) engaged at PARIS-DAKAR 1995 were used for the validation of the concept, then it was applied on a motorcycle (CRM250AR) in 1998 and on scooters (125 and 150) whose diffusion was limited to Japan .
