Charged by the DST a spokesman Réseau "Sortir du nucléaire"

This morning at 8 h, the Directorate of Security of the Territory (DST) conducted a search in the apartment of Stéphane Lhomme, spokesman of the Network "Sortir du nucléaire" and author of the book "Nuclear insecurity. Soon a Chernobyl in France? "(Editions Yves Michel).

Since this morning, Stéphane Lhomme, is in custody at the Central Police Station of Bordeaux for an indefinite period. He is suspected of holding a confidential defense document that demonstrates the vulnerability of the EPR nuclear reactor in the event of an airliner's plane crash. The case is in the hands of the anti-terrorist section of the Paris prosecutor's office.

The “Sortir du nuclear” Network denounces this arrest and calls for the immediate release of its spokesperson.

The network "Sortir du nucléaire" had published in September 2005 a letter from an official of EDF (not covered by the secret defense) mentioning this document confidential defense. During the public debate on the EPR which ended in early April 2006, the CPDP (National Commission of Public Debate) had censored a passage of the written contribution of the Network "Sortir du nucléaire" mentioning this document confidential defense.

This case once again demonstrates the opacity and censorship of nuclear power.

Citizens have the right to know the truth about nuclear power and in particular about the EPR. The “Sortir du nuclear” Network asks the State to “declassify” the Confidential defense document on the EPR so that the truth can be found about this reactor.

Nuclear - Suicide crash: the vulnerable EPR reactor

The “Sortir du nuclear” Network holds a CONFIDENTIAL DEFENSE document, issued by EDF, which recognizes that the EPR nuclear reactor will be just as vulnerable as the current reactors in the face of a suicide crash. This is absolutely unacceptable for a nuclear reactor which, if built, will be the first reactor to be built AFTER SEPTEMBER 11, 2001.

Considering that Ms. Lauvergeon, CEO of Areva, manufacturer of the EPR, systematically claims that this reactor is "designed to withstand a suicide crash with an airliner", the "Sortir du nuclear" Network must make known the truth by revealing the contents of the document "Confidential defense". 1) “Reasonable” risk coverage

Extract: "The assumptions relating to the impact must ensure a" reasonable "coverage of the risk and cannot claim to cover all eventualities"
Comment from the “Exit nuclear” Network: “reasonable” risk coverage in the event of an impact does indeed mean incomplete risk coverage. A suicide crash on the EPR can therefore clearly lead to a nuclear disaster.

2) Hiding the truth to citizens

Extract: "The assumptions, rules used, and associated analyzes should not appear in safety reports that are accessible or likely to be publicly accessible"
Comment from the “Sortir du nuclear” Network: EDF executives want to hide the truth from citizens. Information is however fundamental: if it is built, the EPR will be the first “post September 11, 2001” reactor. It is unthinkable that it was not designed to withstand a suicide crash.
