Agriculture: new energy field. by B.Reynier.

The energy management, potential of agricultural products in substitution for oil, gas and derivatives. Marketing channels to develop.

Introduction

The energy management within the construction process and operation of residential and commercial built presents a strategic challenge (the Energy Act of July 13 2005). In 2004 the housing sector will have consumed 46% of the national primary energy and contributed to 25% of greenhouse gas emissions. An important part of the elemental constituents are derived from fossil fuels or their derivatives (manufacturing, baking drying heavy materials, such as polystyrene insulation, sun PVC, plastics, etc.). Finally, through the energy consumed to produce these materials, their production costs are bound to grow exponentially.

That is why we must gradually produce materials independent of fossil fuels, thermal qualities enhanced, energy-efficient manufacturing. With the corollary less appeal to mineral raw materials (clay, etc.) while facilitating the recycling of these materials during deconstruction at the end of cycle use.

The market for housing renovation to the sole purpose of reducing energy costs is huge. We can estimate the annual flow over 800 000 auquels old housing will add the 300 000 new housing ...

Agro resources are at the confluence of these requirements!

Their development provides a glimpse of the dice years 2007 - 2010 - 2015:

AT - Agricultural production of high value-added productsWith consequences for job creation in the long term, the stabilization and even growth of the rural population, including Midi-pyrénnées.

This change of state through thinking and long-term partnerships between the three stakeholders: Research - Industrials - Farmers.

The latter must adapt their crops to the needs, new climatic conditions (droughts and water shortages?) And transformation of their products that will evolve from agri-food products to agro materials. This transition will take one to two decades. But this is one of the ways of evolution of the agricultural world, taking into account the economic environment and the CAP years after 2013 ... The agricultural federations and in particular "Young Farmers" must be associated with the emergence of these new development paths.

B - New agricultural valuation sources while reducing transport and trade in raw materials, Creating jobs can not be outsourced rooted in the territories ... While globalization destroyed entire sections of our economies, the production of these materials from agriculture is a major innovative economic potential, a similar opportunity to that of Eole Clement Ader at the end of last century to today aeronautics ...

The Universities of Midi Pyrenees have the best skills to design, develop with regional farmers and manufacturers the first demonstration of these new materials (brick, insulating, promoters, etc.).

For factual examples are given below quasi mature projects of industrial developments coupling our search capabilities with those of farmers and industries wide range of construction:

    • Industrial Manufacturing:

      - New bricks, concrete blocks, prefabricated framing, insulation (the incomparable / mineral wool organic qualities)

      - News plasturgies (in substitution of certain PVC)

      - New heat transfer fluids with enhanced thermal qualities,

      - New coatings and binders, new lubricants (formwork) biodegradable

      - New treatments for wood (exponential development)

      - Recycling of construction materials (including plaster residues)

    • With corollary the implementation of:

      - New business production (agriculture and industry) and implementation of these new materials,

      - New curriculum for training and employment in the construction and export of these new concepts.

Initially, these agro resources will complement traditional raw materials.
Thus one can imagine the body composed of clay or concrete with added organic matter ...

C - The implementation of new marketing and distribution channels in the country, generating jobs throughout the circuits created (marketing, distribution, POSE), lower costs and energy savings for users and the nation.

It is not tolerable that the materials are eco products in France are hardly distributed ... that their use requires purchases across borders with unnecessary transport and pollutants associated with these marketing methods ...
