Global warming: second heat record on Earth 2005

The average temperature of the Earth in 2005 has reached its second highest level in a century, due to global warming induced by the increase in greenhouse gases, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency.

In 2005, the average temperature of the planet was greater than 0,32 degree Celsius compared to the average recorded between 1971 and 2000, said the Meteorological Agency in a statement. This is the second heat record since 1891, behind that of 1998 (0,66 degree Celsius above average). This upward trend in temperature has been around since the mid-80 years, the agency noted. (GFR)
