The Earth's average temperature in 2005 reached its second highest level in a century, due to global warming induced by increasing greenhouse gases, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency.
In 2005, the average temperature of the planet was 0,32 degrees Celsius higher than the average recorded between 1971 and 2000, the Meteorological Agency said in a statement. This is the second heat record since 1891, behind that of 1998 (0,66 degrees Celsius higher than the average). This rising temperature trend has been around since the mid-80s, the agency noted. (GFR)
