The director of "Super Size Me" announces his next project

Director Morgan Spurlock ("Super Size Me") has just taken an option on the bestseller "The Republican War on Science" in order to adapt the book to the big screen next year, reports Variety.

Chris Mooney's book explores the real motives behind the US government's attitude to scientific topics such as stem cell research, climate, the missile program, and even sex education.

Mooney claims that the right-wing approach to scientific research shows an aversion to environmental and health issues, but also to topics such as the theory of evolution and legal abortion.

Spurlock will produce the project via his production company Warrior Poets. The director recently produced "Class Act", a documentary about the elimination of arts programs in schools.
