The bombardment by the Israeli air force of the oil reservoirs of the Jiyeh power station in southern Lebanon caused "the greatest ecological disaster in the Mediterranean", the Lebanese Minister of the Environment said on Saturday.
“So far, 10.000 to 15.000 tons of crude have been spilled into the sea, it is the greatest ecological disaster that the Mediterranean has known and it risks having terrible consequences not only on our country but for everyone the countries of the Eastern Mediterranean ”, assured Mr. Yacoub Sarraf.
