All the attics, except recent and very well done houses, sooner or later show "air leaks" at the attic level. These leaks should be avoided as much as possible when using loose insulation that is not "chunked".
A very important condition for the good efficiency and resistance over time of the insulating power of your installation is therefore not to have leaks and drafts in the attic.
In fact, as for another loose insulation; the cellulose would fly away as it goes, making its effectiveness in places very limited or even zero.
A few hours of "chewing"
Our house is made of Ytong - cellular concrete, roof slabs included.

The roof slabs are supported by metal profiles thus bearing walls foundations.
It is therefore a fairly heavy structure but without any thermal bridge (and this is undoubtedly what the architect was looking for). The internal thermal inertia of the house is also important because of the different cellular concrete floors.

The attics are no exception since the slab as the gears are Ytong. The attic were therefore already insulated with R we estimated 2 which is currently far from the standards (but acceptable in 80 years, date of construction).
We therefore “filled” the various joints damaged after 20 years as well as possible with a special Ytong glue of course.

These repairs took a good dozen of hours but are essential.
A small "formwork" for hemp
As mentioned above, we also used 2 m² of hemp wool panels to leave the single inspection hatch obviously accessible.
For this, we made a beast "formwork" in recovery boards to the dimensions of the 3 panels of hemp wool.

You will notice in passing (advertisement) the use of very practical economical LED spotlights.

Here the preparations are finished! All that remains is to assemble the cellulose bags and disperse the cellulose, but contrary to what I thought at the time ... the hardest part is still ahead of us!
