even cleaner. Developed by the GPL installation company RM Gaz, in collaboration with the CFBP and the IFP, this prototype has unparalleled environmental performance.

To demonstrate the interest of LPG in the hybrid solution, a Toyota Prius II vehicle, recognized worldwide for its performance in terms of CO2, was selected to develop this prototype vehicle, named Hybrid GPL / Electric '. Voted Car of the Year 2005 by a jury of 58 specialist journalists from 22 countries and placed at the top of the Ademe list of clean vehicles, the Toyota Prius II consumes on average 4,5l / 100km and rejects 104g of CO2 per km. The double motorization makes it possible to run on electric energy in an urban environment which produces almost no pollution. The gasoline engine takes over above a speed of 50 km / h on expressways, especially for long distances.

The LPG / Electric Hybrid: an even cleaner vehicle

Equipped with LPG and electric engines, the prototype benefits from all the advantages of a hybrid vehicle, namely the use of the electric motor in an urban environment, the recharging of the batteries during braking and deceleration. The gasoline engine is replaced by an LPG engine, thus allowing this vehicle to benefit from the environmental and economic performance of LPG. Hybrid GPL / Electric 'is even more efficient than a gasoline hybrid. Indeed, the use of LPG instead of gasoline helps to significantly reduce the CO2 emissions of
this vehicle which is one of the most efficient on the market. The hybrid LPG / Electric 'emits only 92 g / km of CO2, or 11,5% less than the petrol version. To this must be added that the prototype has already covered 15 km and that its performance could be even better if it were new.

LPG: an economic alternative fuel and available everywhere

In addition to its recognized qualities in terms of respect for the environment, LPG allows savings to be made. Its price at the pump is 0.6 € / l, ie half less than gasoline and 37% less expensive than diesel in 2004. Tax assistance relating to LPG vehicles, in force since 2001, allows motorists to benefit from a tax credit of € 1525 on the purchase of a new vehicle or during its transformation if it is less than 3 years old, total exemption or half of the gray card for an LPG vehicle and a TIPP set at a minimum threshold of 0.06 € / l. It should be noted that, to participate in the development of the clean vehicle market, several regions have just decided to increase the rate of exemption from registration fees for LPG vehicles.

LPG is available throughout France through a network of nearly 2000 service stations, including 300 on the motorway network and expressways for 170 motorists, making it the only clean fuel actually available throughout France and in Europe.

In the meantime, and while Renault is launching large-scale manufacturing of its Logan in Russia, which will add to the 650 million classic vehicles, and therefore very energy-hungry, in service worldwide, current industrial investments are not going as far as possible since nothing obliges them!
