High technologies and unnecessary power consumption

THEUFC Que Choisir has just published a study on the hidden consumption of high-tech household appliances (Internet, telephony, flat screens, etc.).

Coincidence? There are some weeks we do a disturbing video of a test HP printer faux eve and were about to contact the UFC to denounce this masquerade: the printer in question consuming as much OFF as ON! Click here for more.

Anyway, a simple calculation (Details of the calculation by the end of page) shows that by eliminating these 14 GWh of completely unnecessary consumption, France could simply close a nuclear power reactor 2 900MW!

It is therefore a considerable amount of energy that is wasted in these hidden consumption, but there are solutions such as anti-standby power strips.
