More than four in five French people (83%) are ready to spend more to buy a car that consumes less and less and pollutes less, according to an IFOP survey published by “Dimanche Ouest-France”.
According to this survey, 42% of French people are "certainly" ready to spend more to buy a cleaner vehicle that consumes less. They are 41% to answer that they would be "probably" ready to make this choice.
In addition, 88% of respondents say they are ready to adopt biofuels to reduce their fuel consumption. They are 69% to consider the use of a hybrid vehicle running on electricity and gasoline and 65% could use the “start-stop” system, which automatically cuts the engine at red lights.
In addition, nearly a third of French people (35%) have already decided to reduce their leisure spending due to the rise in fuel prices, even though 65% have maintained their spending for this item. They are 29% to have reduced their clothing budget, 27% their spending on household appliances and 18% their food spending.
This IFOP survey was conducted by telephone on October 7 and 8 with a sample of 956 people representative of the French population aged 18 and over, using the quota method.
