This principle has been used for years in aquariums, especially when you have a filter under sand or a skimmer (saltwater aquarium).

It works very well on videos with the air entrained at the bottom with a lot more water but the compression of this air released at the bottom will not be of great help, because when going up it decompresses and therefore does not exert much pressure to go back higher than the starting point.
On the contrary, the air that rises in a small diameter tube (around the cm) is due to the effect of surface tension in alternating air and water sections. This column of much lighter average density rises by Archimedes, much higher above the starting level in the inverse proportion of the ratio of density water air in the tube divided by the density of water without air !!!
