I admit to having tried a lot of washing balls (Indian nuts, ceramic balls, those in ions I don't know what ...) but none gave me satisfaction. as soon as there is a very small stain on the garment, it comes out dirty.
with a one year old child ... all clothes are stained!

I also tried with the ash, catastrophic result: my laundry smells like cold ash ... maybe I did not do the right thing!

on the other hand I ended up finding my happiness:
I grate 50/60 gr of Marseille soap
I melt it over low heat with two liters of water
I put two spoons of baking soda
and a few drops of essential oils for the smell

and not only does it work but it also costs a lot of money!

For my part, I use baking soda, eco-friendly detergent and nuts.
I put swatch balls or equivalent in the drum. We sell them in organic stores at a crazy price, but I found decathlon balls for three times nothing. I advise a minimum of ten balls.
For the tumble dryer, I know that tennis balls work well.
