Help for getting started in 3D printing Elegoo Neptune 3

by SENIOR ELECTRONICIAN » 04/11/22, 21:39

Hi,

Let me introduce myself, I am a senior electronics engineer, retired, but still registered as a freelancer in the field of hardware and software design.

Mechanical drawing, I only knew during my studies, with tracing paper and rotring on the drawing board, and there I put my nose in FreeCAD for 3D, hoping to generate printable files, and LibreCAD in 2D possibly for electronic card.

In electronic CAD I commonly use MENTOR Pads and ALTIUM Designer.

I just bought an ELEGOO Neptune 3 printer, which has arrived, and I will have to learn. My first project consists of a box for an electronic device with a graphic display and 3 R6 batteries, so about 100 x 180 mm, and I would need advice.

Thank you for your advice

Thank you for the answer.

For 2D I just tried LibreCAD, really not intuitive, and even with the tutorials I give up. I think I can make a 2D view easily in 3D software, and then my electronic CAD will be easy!!!

I am installing FreeCAD. Good night !!!

Forget Freecad, for modeling for 3D printing with complex shapes, I recommend Meshmixer…it's free and the same editor as Autocad…Autodesk…

I mastered it after a few hours of youtube tutorials…

For filaments do a search on the forum we have topics...

I'll give you some more tips tomorrow...go through it forum 3d printing while waiting

Thanks for the advice, I started the download.

Freecad is indeed very crappy, they release a release per week, each time it blocks, microdaube runtime problems that I have already installed !!! And I'm not going to start debugging and compiling Python

I found the error files in a hidden APPdata rep, the XML contains machine info... and the word error has 2 lines, the crash date and Error accessing UPI repository in the 64 bits registry, the second file a .dmp that win does not know how to open, I have to find my hex file editor
