A few days ago I wanted to restart my heating circuit ...
The 14-year-old Biral circulator was blocked from blocked ...
It's funny because the other years he started without worries after the summer break (about 7 months). I probably had to unlock it with the screw once or twice over the 2 years ... I mean that compared to other brands, this old classic Biral was blocked much less ... Until today ' hui where it is the disaster.
It was so blocked that the rotor shell remained on the frame ... I had to dismantle dozens of circulators in my life and I had never seen this ...
I tried to loosen it with WD40, I managed with difficulty after 10 injections of WD40 to make it run empty (spinning hull but no more, too much friction between the hull and the rotor ...) ... In other words: he died at home dead ...
As a good chief econologist, I went to see my favorite plumber, hoping to be able to buy the turbine + shell ... obviously impossible to replace only the turbine and the shell ...
He advised me of an electronic model from the same brand which (according to him) no longer jams even after extended periods of downtime. To see ... in 1 year
In any case, they have made a lot of progress on engine efficiency (and perhaps the turbines ... but we have been in control for years ... it seemed to me ???) because I go from an average consumption of 40W to 15W ... see less because the electronics regulate and I saw a consumption of 11W this morning ...
It has not been running for 24 hours so to see in use!
To see if it will last 14 years also at the rate of 5 months a year ...

Re: Biral MX 12-1 blocked replaced by electronic circulator Biral AX 25-4 180 RED
In terms of price, the Biral MX 12-1 is still around € 120 and I paid its little electronic brother € 165 ...
By saving 30W per h at 0.15 € per kWh, the 45 € are paid for in 45 / (30 * 0.00015) = 10 h ... or 000 days in continuous operation ...
Suffice to say that it is completely stupid to continue to install classic circulators ... but the electronics must last as many years as the classics

I have just noticed a function of Biral electronic circulators which is not at all indicated in the manual (or elsewhere for that matter!) : when the circuit temperature increases (detected in the circulator), they accelerate automatically!
This means that you don't (too much) circulate lukewarm or cold water in the circuit for nothing... and save a few electric kWh per year...

And yes, we learn every day about this forum !
(when you don't waste your time with trolls...)
I still have 2 old circulators that I will probably change this year...

In the case of an ordinary blockage (engine that growls, but does not turn), the usual procedure is to unscrew the axle cap and turn it in the direction of the arrow using a screwdriver (the circulator being energized). Sometimes this is insufficient and the solution then consists in exerting a more intense rotation with a screwdriver: this more vigorous mechanical action is normally sovereign with respect to the most recalcitrant. Of course, when the circulator is really out of order, like that of Christophe, there is no miracle to be hoped for.

It's good that you talk about the seizing up Ahmed: one of the 2 electronics (less than 1 year old) that I had installed at the end of 2021 / beginning of 2022 was already seized up after a break of barely 4-5 months
A seized electronic starts at 5W and eventually shuts off after a few seconds... this prevents the motor from straining and the armatures from heating up, which is a good thing.
On the other hand, it is impossible to unblock it without dismantling...
My plumber had told me that there is an anti-seizure "system" on the electronics but obviously either it was not sufficient in my case, or there is none, or it must be activated manually ( here too nothing in the instructions provided, very succinct ..)...
However, the official page speaks well of an automatic anti-jamming system: https://www.biral.eu/en/products/heatin ... 180-red-6/

These circulators block easily because the power of the motor is very low: after a period of inactivity, it is often necessary to help it because deposits or oxidation can slow it down when starting.

Yes, in any case mine did not vibrate...it's their entry-level model, maybe it doesn't have the function...or else you have to activate it manually but I don't know how and I can't find the AX model on the official website: there is only the CompAX range...
In short, not very serious!
