The Beer Fable about the distribution of taxes

by thibr » 06/06/21, 13:34

French tax explained to Yellow Vests ...

Take the case of 10 friends who meet up every evening for a beer and imagine that the total bill amounts to 100 euros.
Normally, that would be 10 euros per person (beer is expensive but that's not the point!).

But our ten friends prefer to pay this collective bill according to a more social distribution, which is inspired by the calculation of income tax, which gives this:

· The first 4 (the "poorest") pay nothing.
The fifth pays 1 euro
The sixth pays 3 euros
The seventh pays 7 euros
The eighth pays 12 euros
The ninth pays 18 euros
· The last (the "richest") pays 59 euros.
Total = 100 euros

The ten men seem quite happy with their arrangement and they continue to meet up every evening to drink their beer, collectively.

Until the day the owner decides to give them a loyalty discount!
“As you are good customers,” he told them, “I decided to give you a discount of 20 euros on the total bill. You will therefore now only pay 10 euros for your 80 beers ”
To respect the principles of fairness, the group decides to reduce the addition of each by a percentage inversely proportional to that of their individual contributions.
Which gives this:
· The 5th man, like the first four, no longer pays anything. (one more "poor"!)
The 6th pays 2 euros instead of 3 (33% reduction)
The 7th pays 5 euros instead of 7 (28% reduction)
The 8th pays 9 euros instead of 12 (25% reduction)
The 9th pays 14 euros instead of 18 (22% reduction)
The 10th pays 50 euros instead of 59 (16% reduction)
Total = 80 euros

Each of the six "paying" pays less than before, or even zero for the 5th, and the first 4 continue to drink for free.

But once out of the bar, everyone compares their economy:
"I only got 1 euro out of the 20 euros discount", says the 6th and he points to the 10th "him, he got 9 euros".
“Yeah! said the 5th, I too have only had 1 euro in savings. It's not fair ! "
" That is true ! "Exclaims the 7th," why would he have 9 euros when I only had 2? The richer got the biggest reduction. It's not fair. "
“Wait a minute” shout the first 4 men, “the four of us got nothing at all. Do not let it go! ".

The 9 men surround the 10th and overwhelm him with insults.

The following night the 10th man does not come.
The other nine sit down and drink their beer without him.
But when it comes time to pay their bill, they find they don't have enough money to pay even half the bill !!!

And this, dear beneficiaries, is a strict reflection of our tax system.
The people who pay the most taxes seem to benefit more from a tax reduction, which is quite a relative benefit ...
But they are the biggest contributors and tax them harder, accuse them of being rich and they risk not showing up anymore.
In fact they will go abroad to drink ... and you will not drink anything!

For those who understand, no explanation is necessary.
For those who did not understand, no explanation is possible

Finally, they drink to the eye from the start !! Isn't that nothing? : Mrgreen:

You bastard poor! They always want more!

The fable is pretty but it remains a fable!
In reality, those who charge the most are the middle class, 8, 9 and 10 already have not paid tax fairly for a while!

The rich generally do EVERYTHING to pay the least amount of tax and considerably increase their wealth rather than participating in the social effort! When you have € 50 to pay every year, you can pay a tax expert and invest to divide this amount by 000, 2 or 5! The tax authorities are complicit in all this!

You rich bastard! They always want more!

It's called tax cancellation ... and plenty of specialists exist!

When, as 6 and 7 you have to pay 5000, you cannot exempt from taxation!

The real distribution of taxes is indeed a Gaussian!

ps: to post elsewhere than in humor no?

Yes, since it's still propaganda in disguise. It is all the more propaganda that the author is not quoted and that the title of "the joke" has been changed ... Still as frank of the necklace, Chibr. : roll:

Alcohol seriously interferes with the analysis.
